My Journey
My career in education began in 1996, when I joined Bishop Grosseteste College as a trainee. A wonderful institution, we learned all the important lessons necessary to venture into schools and commence our careers as teachers. My first job was teaching Year Three in a Roman Catholic Primary School in Doncaster. From there I moved to Kirton In Lindsey in North Lincolnshire, before jumping across the A15 into my first leadership position at Scawby Primary School. I was very fortunate to work with an excellent team there, over many years, eventually progressing from deputy headship into Executive Headship of the federation (and then Academy Trust) that I helped to establish. Working across two schools and one nursery – Scawby Academy and Hibaldstow Academy, and Stepping Stones of Scawby, we shaped the educational journey of many families in the area. From there I moved to Lincoln and spent almost six years as the headteacher of the largest primary school in the city.
Core values
Education should always be relationship focussed. The best learning takes place where trust is mutual and fear has no place. Have a listen to the Harry Chapin song, “Flowers are Red” which speaks volumes.
